Cornel West

A native of Detroit, Rachel was born to Spanish parents and grew up in a racially, ethnically, culturally and linguistically diverse landscape. Diversity is second nature to her and is the foundation for her cultural inquisitiveness and deep passion for social justice and equity. Rachel merges her passions together professionally by dedicating her efforts to the advancement of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from an Antiracist Perspective in International Education.

Her passions are reflected personally through her years of living abroad in the inclusive city of Barcelona, home to a community that instinctively defends and safeguards human rights. Rachel loves community organizing, lindy hop dancing, hiking, photography, gastronomy and languages. She speaks English, Spanish and Catalan.

  • Ensure a holistically diverse and inclusive climate throughout the organization
  • Ensure inclusive excellence in all programming
  • Serve as primary contact for all student diversity and inclusion concerns
  • Develop achievable and measurable diversity and inclusion goals
  • Serve as a resource for partner institutions on diversity and inclusion
